In winter, with low temperatures, diesel generators may face a series of problems when working in low-temperature environments. Therefore, the anti freezing measures taken are particularly important to ensure its normal operation.
1、 Suitable diesel for winter diesel generators
Choose low pour point diesel: The pour point of diesel is the temperature at which it begins to solidify at low temperatures. In winter, diesel with a pour point lower than the local low temperature should be selected.
Diesel storage management: Diesel storage containers should be placed indoors or in places with good insulation measures. If it can only be placed outdoors, insulation measures can be taken for the oil storage tank, such as wrapping insulation materials (such as rock wool, polyurethane foam, etc.). At the same time, it is necessary to minimize the air content in diesel storage containers, as water in the air will condense on the container walls and drip into the diesel, increasing the water content of the diesel and easily causing freezing at low temperatures.
2、 Maintenance of Diesel Generator Coolant
Use antifreeze: Antifreeze is the key to preventing coolant from freezing at low temperatures. The appropriate antifreeze should be selected based on the ambient temperature of the generator. When adding antifreeze, ensure that its concentration meets the requirements. Different brands and models of antifreeze have different mixing ratios, and should be operated according to the instructions.
Check the coolant level and quality: Regularly check the coolant level to ensure it is within the normal range. Low fluid level may cause engine overheating or damage to cooling system components. At the same time, attention should be paid to the quality of the coolant. If the coolant becomes cloudy or contains impurities, it should be replaced in a timely manner, as these impurities may affect the antifreeze performance and heat dissipation effect of the coolant.
3、 Insulate the diesel generator room
Computer room building insulation: If the generator is placed in the computer room, the walls, roof, doors and windows of the computer room should be insulated. For example, thermal insulation boards, such as polystyrene foam boards, can be added to the walls, which have good thermal insulation performance and can reduce the heat exchange inside and outside the machine room. Doors and windows can use double-layer glass or install insulated curtains to reduce the entry of cold air.
Set up heating equipment: Install heating equipment such as electric heaters, warm air blowers, etc. in the diesel generator room. When the temperature in the computer room drops below a certain value (such as 5 ℃), turn on the heating equipment to keep the temperature in the room within a suitable range for generator operation. 4、 Diesel generator lubrication system protection
Use winter lubricating oil: In winter, it is necessary to replace it with lubricating oil suitable for low-temperature environments. Winter lubricants have lower viscosity and can reach various lubrication parts of the engine faster at low temperatures.
Preheating lubrication system: Before starting the generator, a pre lubrication device can be used to preheat the lubrication system. Some generators come with a lubrication system preheating function, which heats the engine oil to the appropriate working temperature through electric heating elements, reducing wear during engine start-up.
5、 Protection of other components of diesel generator
Keep the battery warm: Low temperatures can reduce the performance of the battery. You can install insulation sleeves for the battery, or place the battery inside an insulation box and use electric heating elements or chemical heating bags to maintain the battery temperature. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure the normal operation of the battery charging system and regularly check the power and electrolyte level of the diesel generator battery.
Heating the intake system: Install an intake preheater at the intake port to heat the air entering the engine, allowing for more thorough mixing of fuel and air, which is beneficial for the engine to start smoothly at low temperatures. The intake preheater can be electric heating or flame heating, depending on the specific situation of the generator.
